  • Permits: A climbing permit is required for peaks above 6500 meters, while trekking permits are necessary for lower peaks within the Central Karakoram National Park (CKNP). Our team will assist in obtaining these permits.
  • Royalty Fees: Published annually by the Gilgit-Baltistan Council. These fees vary based on peak and season.
  • Health & Vaccinations: Recommended vaccinations include Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Malaria prophylaxis if traveling through lower elevations. Consultation with a travel clinic is advised.

Accommodation

  • Hotels: Twin-sharing rooms in Islamabad and Skardu, with options for private rooms at an extra cost.
  • Base Camp Tents: Two-person shared tents. Private single tents are available upon request for an additional fee.

Travel Notes

  • Flights to Skardu: Subject to weather conditions. In case of cancellation, alternative travel arrangements by road will be provided.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Islamabad

Arrival and Pickup
Our guide will meet you at Islamabad International Airport, holding an orange sign with our company logo and your name. Please provide your flight details at least five days before arrival.

Transfer to Hotel
You’ll be transferred to a hotel to rest after your journey. If arriving between 9 am and 12 pm, after lunch and some rest, we will meet at 6 pm for a briefing and any remaining payments, followed by dinner. For late arrivals, payments and briefings will be handled in Skardu.

Accommodation
Twin-sharing room at Chateau Royale, Prestige Residence, or a similar hotel (subject to availability).

Day 2Islamabad to Skardu

GPS Data: Altitude: 2,498m

In the morning, participants will take a scenic flight from Islamabad to Skardu, with views of Nanga Parbat if the weather is clear. After arriving in Skardu, the rest of the day is free.

Accommodation: Twin-sharing room at Concordia Motel, Mountain Lodge, or a similar hotel (based on availability).

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, plus tea, coffee, and snacks included.

Day 3Spend free day in Skardu

Altitude: 2,498m

After breakfast, participants will hike up to Kharpocho Fort, which offers stunning views of the Indus River and Skardu town. They can also choose to visit Sadpara Lake and enjoy free time shopping in Skardu Bazaar.

Meanwhile, our staff will handle the necessary government paperwork in Skardu, which may take up to two days. We have extra days planned at the end of the trek in case of any delays.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, plus tea, coffee, and snacks included.

Day 4Drive from Skardu to Hushe (3,170m) – 6 Hours

After breakfast, we begin our journey with an exciting jeep ride through picturesque valleys, crossing the Indus and Shyok Rivers. We’ll pass through Khaplu and smaller scenic villages. Arriving at Hushe in the early afternoon, we’ll set up camp with stunning views of Masherbrum (7,821m).

Day 5Trek to Saicho (3,330m) – 5 Hours

Today marks the start of the trekking portion of the expedition. We’ll head towards Saicho, a relatively easy walk offering views of Masherbrum. You will arrive at the campsite by lunchtime, where you can relax and prepare for the days ahead.

Day 6Trek to Laila Peak Base Camp (4,535m) – 4 Hours

A scenic 4-5 hour trek will take us to the base camp of Laila Peak, located near the Gondogoro Glacier. You’ll have beautiful views of Masherbrum throughout the day. Upon arrival, we will set up camp and spend the evening at the base camp.

Day 7-17Acclimatization & Climbing Period

These days are dedicated to acclimatization and the ascent of Laila Peak. The climb from the advanced base camp (5,765m) involves mid-grade climbing with an inclination of up to 55 degrees. The journey offers a mix of terrain, from rock to ice. Our experienced team will remain at the base camp to provide support, and a skilled chef will prepare nutritious meals crucial for your climbing efforts.

Day 18Return Trek to Saicho (3,330m) – 4 Hours

Following the successful climb, pack up and head back to Saicho. Enjoy a warm meal and a night of rest at the campsite.

Day 19Trek Back to Hushe (3,170m) – 4 Hours

We begin the final trek back to Hushe village. Celebrate the success of your expedition with the local villagers. It’s customary to offer tips to porters, acknowledging their hard work. Spare gear or equipment can also be handed out as a token of gratitude.

Day 20Drive to Skardu via Khaplu – 6 Hours

Explore the UNESCO-listed Baltit and Altit forts, perched high above the Hunza Valley. After sightseeing, drive to Gilgit.

Day 21Arrival in Islamabad

On this day the participants will take a flight from the airport in Skardu to Islamabad aiport. You will have a good time to relax at the hotel in Islamabad.

The domestic flights sometime get cancelled due to weather conditions. Incase of flight cancellation, you will drive to Chilas for overnight. It takes eight to ten hours by a vehicle.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, plus tea, coffee, and snacks included.

Day 22Contingency day for flight cancellation

This day is reserved for any potential delays if the domestic flight didn’t operate the previous day. Guests will depart early in the morning from Chilas to Islamabad, which can take up to ten hours. If participants arrive in Islamabad on the domestic flight, they’ll have a free day to explore the city.

Accommodation: Twin-sharing room at Chateau Royale, Prestige Residence, or a similar hotel (subject to availability).

Day 23Fly to home country

Meals: Breakfast

Is there reliable electricity during the trek?

You’ll have electricity up to Askole. Beyond that, electricity is unavailable in the Baltoro region, but we provide solar panels or generators to charge devices overnight.

 
 

What additional gear do I need, like harnesses, crampons, and sleeping bags?

For the trek, you will need a high-quality sleeping bag rated to -15°C, a sleeping mat, walking sticks, and microspikes or crampons. Most clients bring their own, but you can rent these in Skardu for under $150. A harness and ice axe are not required for this trek. See full list here
